Last updated: August 2026 · This covers the Swapaboo waiting list. When the service itself opens, it will have its own fuller policy.
The short version
We hold your email, your first name, the first part of your postcode, and the clothes sizes
your children are in, so we can tell you when Swapaboo opens near you and have the right sizes ready. For a
child we hold a size band and nothing else: no name, no date of birth, no photograph. We never sell your data.
You can unsubscribe, or ask us to delete everything, at any time.
Who we are
Swapaboo ("we", "us") is building a cashless kids' clothes swap for the UK, opening town by town. For now we
run a waiting list. If you have any question about your information, email
hello@swapaboo.com and a real person will answer.
What we hold, and why
When you join the waiting list, and if you fill in the optional fields, we hold:
- Your email address so we can tell you when Swapaboo opens near you, send you
your invitations, and answer you if you write to us. This is the whole point of the list.
- Your first name so we can write to you as a person, and so an invitation you
pass on can say who it came from. (For some of our earliest sign-ups we don't have a name yet, and that's fine.)
- The first part of your postcode (the outward bit, for example "BN16") so we know
which towns to open in first. We do not hold your full postcode or your address.
- The clothes sizes your children are in so we can have the right sizes ready when
we open near you, rather than a rail of the wrong ages. We hold a size band only. See the box below, because
this is the part a parent should be clearest on.
- Roughly how you found us (what you type in the "how did you hear about us" box,
and the link or campaign you arrived from) so we understand which of our efforts are working.
- Your place in the founding-families programme: your founding number if you have
one, who invited you if you came in on an invitation, and the invitations you have to give.
- Whether you want our emails. When you unsubscribe we keep a record that you have,
so that we stop.
- Two private web links (long random codes): one that shows you your own page and
your invitations, and a separate one that unsubscribes you. They let you do both without a password. Anyone with
a link can use it, so treat them like you would any private link.
About your children
We hold a clothes size band and nothing else about a child. No name, no date of birth,
no photograph, no gender. A size band ("6 to 12 months", "2 to 3 years") is all we ask for and all we keep, and it
is never shown to any other family. It exists only so that when we open near you there are clothes that actually fit.
Who else touches your information
We keep things deliberately small. Your information is handled by:
- Supabase, which runs the database your details are stored in.
- Netlify, which hosts the waiting-list pages. Like any web host it may log standard
technical data such as the IP address of the device that loads a page.
- Resend, which sends your welcome email and any other updates from us. It handles your
email address and name in order to deliver them.
- Google Workspace, because when Sophie writes to you personally it comes from our own
Gmail. Google therefore handles your email address and name when she does.
That is the whole list. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone, and there is no advertising or
tracking company involved. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, they are covered
by appropriate legal safeguards.
Our lawful basis
We process your information on the basis of your consent, which you give when you join the waiting list.
Being told about the launch is the reason the list exists, so joining and agreeing to those emails go together. You
are always free to withdraw that consent (see "Your choices" below).
How long we keep it, and how to be removed
We keep your details while you are on the waiting list. Two different things you can do:
- Unsubscribe stops the emails but keeps your place and your founding number, in case
you want them later. It is not the same as deleting your record.
- Ask us to delete everything and we remove your record from the list, promptly. Email
hello@swapaboo.com and we will confirm when it is done.
If Swapaboo does not go ahead in your area, we will not hold your details indefinitely.
Your choices and rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object
to how we use it. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in it, or by emailing
hello@swapaboo.com. If you are ever unhappy with how we have handled your data,
you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at
ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
